Deputies responded to the 46000 block of Marshall Boulevard around 1 a.m. March 5, for reports of shots fired in the area, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
The victim survived, but the shooting kicked off a major investigation that came to its conclusion this week.
On Thursday, April 17, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division arrested two teens—ages 14 and 17—at separate homes in Lexington Park, officials said.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed both are now being charged as adults.
The 14 year old was charged with:
- Attempted first-degree murder;
- Attempted second-degree murder;
- First-degree assault;
- Second-degree assault;
- Firearm use in a felony/violent crime;
- Loaded handgun on person;
- Handgun on person.
The 17 year old was charged with:
- Attempted second-degree murder;
- First-degree assault;
- Second-degree assault;
- Firearm use in a felony/violent crime;
- Loaded handgun on person;
- Handgun on person.
Both teens were booked into the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center pending bond hearings.
Authorities say they are legally barred from releasing the names of the suspects, despite the adult charges, due to juvenile privacy protections.
The case remains under investigation.
